ABOUT VOTER ACCESS PROGRAM 2021
The Fundamental idea of Good Governance is each one of us should cast our democratic rights during the election. Presently India is experiencing a round of elections in five poll-bound states. But in the present structure, migrant people have no scope for exercising their voting rights. In this context, YFGG initiates a Voter Access Program where different stakeholders like academicians, researchers, journalists, etc. can have a larger overview of the said issue. Moreover, YFGG provides a wide platform to all for analyzing its core issues and may come with relevant strategies to appropriately address the issues by which everyone should have access to exercising their democratic rights.

Voter Access Program
This initiative is taken by Youth for Good Governance in light of the ongoing election in five state of India. The purpose of this program is to encourage eligible voters to cast their vote and, further study and research pertaining to electoral process in India. There are various stakeholders involved in this program ie. academicians, researchers, and so on. Well thought activities and discussions are planned as part of this initiative. This is one of its kind as to promote and uphold democracy and its sanctity by spreading righteous awareness amongst the voters- how could their individual vote lead to change and how could they think of asking questions to election candidates and themselves contesting in the election. These are some prospects of Voter Access Program 2021.

The Methodology adopted to run the campaign
In order to create awareness and understand the viewpoints and opinions of the youth of our country, we have planned certain activities and points of engaging discussion. We aim to fully acknowledge and identify key trends and patterns seen in youth attitudes towards upcoming elections and what role they play in them. At the same time, we have planned to employ methodologies in order to understand alternative ways of voting amidst the global pandemic situation. Hence, this initiative is a comprehensive and dynamic attempt to throw light on the youth of our nation which will play a significant role in upcoming state elections.

Survey
Amidst the pandemic, at least five states/UTs in India will have their Assembly elections. However, owing to the problem of social mobility due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is extremely difficult for people stranded in places other than their home states to reach the electoral booths to vote.
In order to understand the plight of those who are away from their home states and have no choice but to give up the very essential ‘Right to Vote’, Youth for Good Governance created a survey with all questions having multiple options to choose from. It was ensured that the questions are simple, easy to comprehend and do not take much time. This survey played an integral role in shaping our official petition pushing for the provision of postal and online ballots to a greater section of the population and make ‘Universal Adult Franchise’ truly universal.
Your Vote Your Voice
Your Vote, Your Voice campaign encourages and ensures people in this pandemic get registered to vote and cast a ballot in national and statewide elections.
Although the pandemic has surrounded us, five states ie. Assam, Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Puducherry, and Kerela will hold their assembly elections from the march.
Though there is the problem of mobility due to the covid 19 pandemic, it is exceedingly difficult for people living in places other than their home states to reach the election booths to cast their votes. It is very difficult for people to travel in order to vote. In consequence, this limitation will discourage people not opting for voting, thus by this campaign, we want the election commission of India to provide an option for the voters to cast their votes from anywhere or wherever they are living.

Vote pe charcha
Due to Covid and nationwide lock-down India witnessed issues of migrants across the country and their worst condition had been proved that they are an ignorable sector of populations because their voting rights rarely give a dividend to political parties of our country. It is a hard fact that the majority of Migrant people never cast their vote due to their irregular status of residence in one place.
Keeping this in view context, YFGG initiates a discussion named " Vote Pe Charcha" especially targeting migrant populations of five polls bound states (WB, TN, Assam, KL, Puducherry) where the election had been declared. YFGG believes that inclusive democracy needs inclusive participation of all sectors of people from the society and this discussion (Charcha) aims to create awareness among migrant populations and the general public about the importance of casting voting rights and its associated issues.
Therefore YFGG planning to conduct a series of webinars where people from different spheres like politicians, lawyers, journalists, social activists, NGOs, etc. can share their views on the above-mentioned.
Voting in an election is considered a healthy exercise in the democracies like India. The decision ball is in citizen's court as to elect the right person to govern their constituencies during elections and now is the time to ponder appropriate choices while taking multiple perspectives into consideration.
The Vote Pe Charcha will be an independent platform for all to think critically and share. The webinar series will bring relevant facts and observations about the said topic for a larger discussion on different platforms. In addition, this virtual platform may help all to take concern about alarming issues of our daily life and challenges.
To encourage the people, make them aware and deliberate the concerning issues in the five states, join the cause and help us prompt others to vote!
