Why a sustainable future is the only way ahead!

Updated: Mar 28, 2022

According to a new United Nations science report, the world has a "short and quickly closing window" to mitigate the effects of climate change. It warns that climate change will make the world sicker, hungrier, poorer, and far more dangerous by 2040, with an unavoidable increase in risks, warning that there was only a brief and rapidly closing window of opportunity to ensure a liveable and sustainable future for all.

We are visitors to this planet. Her dirt and foliage do not make us. We aren't her oxygen or water. We are visitors and will remain so indefinitely. And that makes it our duty to take care of the planet that gives all of us collectively a home. We see conflict on this everywhere, on Twitter threads and columns, but what we don’t see are actual actions and groundwork. We've been neglecting the impact of our actions on our planet for years. We have and continue to cause permanent harm. Therefore, now is the time that we take saving the planet and creating a sustainable future for our children seriously.

Here are some places that all of us can collectively start at:

1. Conserving and Co-operating

People complain about the high costs of solar panels and smart houses, yet true conservation does not necessitate high-tech equipment or sitting in the dark. Start by turning off lights when you leave a room, hanging your clothes to dry, closing your curtains throughout the day, or using reduced hot water. These simple changes will only need a little additional effort from you, but they will have a significant impact on our planet (also our pockets). You may lower your monthly energy expenses and help decrease power plant outputs by conserving a smaller fraction of the energy each day.

2. Three R’s- Reuse, Recycle, Reduce

We can all cut down on our use of plastic and find ways to further reuse and recycle it. Purchasing reusable water bottles and coffee mugs might also benefit. So many things now come in reusable formats, from shopping bags to straws. Investing in reusable products reduces your carbon emissions and extends the life of our planet in ways you may not know. And, if you can't minimize or reuse, at the very least, recycle.

3. Control your wastage:

Every day we contribute to the growing dump of garbage that the world is becoming by effectively and without fail contributing to it. Tons and tons of food is wasted every day in our country, food that could be put to use. There are millions of people who sleep hungry every night while we continue to throw away our leftovers. If the creamy layer decides to watch their waste they can work towards creating a sustainable future.

We have a small window that gets smaller every second we continue to exist and do nothing. It’s our responsibility to leave this planet as a good place for our forthcoming generations to live in. Let’s stop destroying this planet for our petty needs. Let develop, but sustainable. Create goals, check the viability of projects, and actively engage in a conversation to churn out your efforts. It’s now or never!
